Faucet trends for 2017

  • Faucet trends for 2017
Styles come and go, but innovation is a game changer.

Without question, the look and design of today’s faucets are more sleek and attractive than what your parents were putting in their house. But everybody’s tastes are different — one family will prefer a single lever faucet, while others want a more classic two-handle look.

“Faucets come in so many different styles for a reason, and that’s because everybody’s tastes are different,” says Adam Findlay from Pfister Faucets. “But behind all of the designs are innovative advancements in efficiency, options and technology that are making our lives better.”

On the surface, a faucet may seem like a simple contraption: you turn the handle and the water comes out. But modern faucets deliver that simple service in new and better ways, and there is more coming on the horizon. Some of the faucet innovations you will see on store shelves in 2017 include:

Touch free. Forego the turning of the faucet and simply wave your hand in front of a sensor to turn your hands-free faucet on and off. If you turn the faucet on, get busy and forget to go back and turn it off, it will automatically turn itself off after a couple of minutes. It also allows you to preset the temperature so that it is the same every time you turn it on.

Spot free. Your kitchen and bathroom sinks are among the busiest places in your household. That means a lit of hands on the taps, splashing water and dribbled soap that can leave an unsightly mess. Spot Defense faucets clean without cleaning, resisting the fingerprints and water spots that can muck up your sink areas.

Advanced filters. Skip the cost — both financial and environmental — of buying bottled water and get filtered water right out of your tap. Pfister’s Xtract technology offers filtered water from your faucet two times faster than anything else on the market. Pull the handle forward, and get regular tap water, hot or cold. Push it back for filtered cold water that has reduced contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, chlorine and lead.

A better shower. No longer water falling over you from above, stylish shower panels offer a whole new way to get yourself clean. A rainfall showerhead, a detachable shower wand and a series of body jets allow you to scrub yourself down and then enjoy the therapeutic benefits of water pressure, helping you relax while easing tense muscles.

What’s old is new again. For the past couple of generations, the shower-tub combo was standard in new homes. But the standalone tub is making a comeback, and with it are unique and trendy free-standing tub fillers. These faucets add an element of elegance to your bathroom, and include a shower wand to help you rinse off.
