Turn your house into a summer haven with these decor tips.
We are all secretly hoping for that time when the sun is out bright and shiny! Yes, summer is another vibe altogether and we cannot wait for those amazing sunlit days. With seasons changing it is only right that you also make sure your house is also vibrating the same summery energy. Redecorating your house for summer and embracing warm and gleaming colours can be an absolute blast.
After all, who doesn't love getting creative with colours, flowers, and all things vivid? In this article, we share a few tips and tricks that you can implement to make your house what we call, "sun-ready".
1. Start reupholstering furniture
It is time to say goodbye to the dull greys and say hi to the bright yellows and greens. A good start will be to upholster furniture with bright, flower-print patterns. This little change will automatically brighten up the room and will catch everyone's eyes. We would suggest you go with orange, yellow, pink, and green, dramatic prints and patterns.
2. Add a lot of greenery to the house
This is the perfect time to bring mini potted trees, flower vases with fresh flowers inside the house. Get those flowering plants and decorate your deck or backyard. Summer is a great time to go all out with gardening and extend that to the interiors of the house. A good spot to place these plants is by the window sill. We also like finding those tiny corners and placing beautiful plants to bring that fresh vibe to the room. This is also a good time to invest in some succulents and add tiny green details to the tables and sills. If you want to get extra creative then it is a good time to indulge in creating some DIY succulents which can be table centerpieces.
3. Get nautical with interiors
If you are looking for themes to decorate your house - nautical is a good way to invite your favourite season. A lot of stipes, paddles, blues, starfish, seashells and colourful carpets are all great when it comes to the interiors. If you are looking to do nautical in a more subtle way, then just try to include more navy blue in your decor. A good mix of navy blue and white curtains or a beautiful; bright navy blue carpet is a good start. You can also add centerpieces such as a blue vase, boat-shaped relic, and other little knick-knacks that can add a little sea charm to the house.
4. Bring out those travel photographs
Come summer and it is also a good time to travel. A lot of our memories are made during summer. Family trips, beachside adventures, camping, so on and so forth. Summer is a great time to go on vacation with your family and loved ones. Let your walls narrate amazing travel stories. Take several pictures from your different travels and cover the walls with them. Now every time someone visits home, you can start that story about the one time you were in South America....
5. Introduce summer scents
A good way to introduce a season change in your house is by introducing seasonal scents. bring in the ocean breeze, cucumber, melon, greens, gingerbreads, lemons, and mints. Get the scenes that can take over the house and make it smell like a breath of fresh air. Other than just the scents, candles are also a beautiful way to decorate the house. They also make for great decor, especially at night. One of our favorite scenes for summer is lemon-infused scents that are zesty and keep the air clean!
6. Choose the pillows wisely
We told you that this is a good time to get into upholstering your furniture. While at it, the other thing to keep in mind is that you can get creative with the pillows. You can go from sea-side patterns such as sparkly seashells, fish, turtles, or just starfish. You can also go all out with floral patterns or, fruit patterns, geometrical patterns but make sure whatever you choose- these are all in vivid colours. Pair these solid coloured pillows with white background couches and sofas for maximum impact. The other way of doing pillows is by choosing summery sayings or quotes. They add a magical summer character to the room. Try it, you will not complain!
7. Move dinner outdoors
Summer is that one season when you can choose to spend all your time outdoors. If that is a little too much for you, how about spending quality time with your family under the sun? We are talking about moving your dinner to the deck or outside. Set a nice wooden table with some casual chairs and you are good to go. This creates a pretty landscape, changes things up for you, and is a great way to spend time with loved ones. Added bonus if you have a pool which means dinner gets a lot more fun. Make sure you layer the table with clever vessels and add a summery vibe with flowers.
We are all set to turn our house into a summer haven, are you?
