Another summer has come and gone, and now it’s time to make room for the festive fall trends. This season is always filled with cozy, warm inspired hues. Nonetheless, there are a few twists and turns to keep this season from being predictable

Stay fashionable by owning and showing off these hot trends!

Smokey Cat Eyes
This really is an all-season classic; however the combination of the cat eyeliner with a smoky eye is bold and sexy. Witnessed at the fashion shows of Kenzo, Jason Wu, Michael Kors and many more designers, nothing is overdone and precision is key for this look. Make sure you have great brushes that will work the angles and create this mysterious effect.

MAC’s Eyeliner Brush 210 – a fine tipped brush that can easily define points and angles. $24 at MAC Cosmetics.
Sigma Beauty’s Essential Brush Kit – all you need for every day makeup applications. The key brushes for creating a smokey cat eye can be found here with three different eyeshadow brushes and three different eyeliner brushes, plus the essential face brushes: powder, blush/contour, concealer and highlighter. You can order online at www.sigmabeauty.com.

Colourful and Warm Eyeshadows
I believe that a longing to be by the Mediterranean Sea served as inspiration for makeup artists around the globe when they created this trend. Expect to see lots of turquoise, jade and vibrant aqua shadows and eyeliners. Apply tastefully so it is wearable during daytime hours and add more when you’re ready to paint the town blue!

Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘Drive Arty Wet & Dry’ Eyeshadows – you can get two different looks from this pallet; hence the wet and dry nametag. Wear it dry for a subtle shimmery finish or add a little bit of water for a dramatic metallic finish. At Sephora for $55.

NARS Duo Cream Eyeshadow in ‘Burn It Blue’ – this palette is crease resistant and is easy to blend. Use a flat concealer brush for easy application.

Sun Kissed in Fall?
Absolutely! Healthy glowing skin is never old fashion. Face it – we’re actually kind of jealous when we see a sun kissed face during the colder months. Looking sun kissed, bronze and tanned makes your complexion seem clearer and youthful. Take a light shade of bronzer and brush it across your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, forehead, chin and neck.

LORAC Blush/Bronzer Duo is available in ‘Hot & Spicy’ or ‘Hot Flash’ – you can wear both the blush and the bronzer together to get the healthy, radiant look. At Sephora for $30.

The Tightline Liner
Look simple, neat and classic with a skinny slash of the blackest black eyeliner. You can use a room full of different products for this style. Eyeshadows, gel liners, pencils, cream eyeshadows, liquid and so on. The best method I found is applying a gel liner as close as possible to your lash line, give it a few moments, then apply a dark pencil liner to ensure it glides on smoothly. I like using Fluidline ‘Blacktrack’ and Pro Longwear ‘Black Ice,’ both available at MAC Cosmetics.

Grunge and Punk
The details of the lower lash line from spring and summer are continuing into fall and winter: smudgy, messy, bruise-coloured smokey eyes. Add some individual eye lashes to both upper and lower lash lines for a fuller and bold look. I will warn however, if you have trouble with dark circles, then stay far away from this look as it will only increase the darkness.

The trendsetters have definitely changed up the typical fall staples. Play around with colours and liner styles to see which suits you best. With all these new and fun trends, there is something for everyone this season.
