Beauty Tips and Trends from Vancouver Fashion Week

Tarana Rana Darpan, 24 Sep, 2014 02:51 PM

DARPAN Magazine recently attended a Trend Preview by Covergirl and Pantene stylists to get a scoop on the latest makeup and hair trends which will be seen on the Spring/Summer 2015 runway at Vancouver Fashion Week.

Amelie Ducharme, Covergirl Makeup Pro and Justin German, Pantene Pro-V Consulting Hair Stylist gave us the rundown on some of the most coveted looks of the season and what products they use to create them.

#1 - Purple and Pastel Pinks

You can easily recreate this trend at home with the Bombshell Shine Shadow in purple. “You start application along the lashes, and blend it upwards, fanning out up until the eyebrow,” says Ducharme. For the lips, Durcharme used Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lipstick in ‘Yummy’. “We are looking at pinks that are pastel and very soft for summer,” she says.

    # 2 - Luminous Skin

Spring/Summer 2015 is all about luminous skin that shines from within. “First and foremost, taking care of your skin is important,” says Ducharme. “Olay Regenerist Luminous skin line really helps you get that glow.” For the foundation, she uses Covergirl’s TruBlend Liquid Foundation, which comes in light, medium and dark. “It gives you a satin, glowy finish [and] 98% of women of all ethnicities can find their colour.”

    #3 - Black Rim Eyes

The liner trend has been out there for a while now, but summer 2015 sees a strong, unblended application. Ducharme circles the entire eye with CoverGirl’s Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in black, going along the eye and even inside the corner for a punkish, yet glamorous look. To finish the look, she uses Covergirl’s Clump Crusher eyeliner. With its curved brush, it almost curls the eyelashes. “You can put as many coats as you want and it won’t accumulate clumps,” says Ducharme.

    #4 -Textured Plaits

“We’ve seen braids for a while,” says German and announces the return of mousse, which is no longer just a 90s thing. To make his version of the textured braid, German uses Pantene Pro-V Stylers Extra Strong Hold Mousse to sculpt the hair tight to the head. “Make the trend your own,” he advises by pulling bits of hair out, making your braid fatter or looser. This look can be taken from day time to the night by simply opening the braid and brushing it out for loose waves. “These mousses brush out and they don’t flake,” adds German.

    #5 -Silver Screen Inspired Hair

Another hair trend are low ponytails with more volume at the bottom a la Old Hollywood. German uses the low ponytail as a starting point for another look – a chignon with a twist, held together by Pantene Pro-V Stylers Texturizing Sculpting Wax
