A Class Above the Rest!

Thinking of enjoying some authentic and mouth-watering Indian food in a relaxing ambience? Head to Sapphire Bistro in Surrey. This recently-opened eatery, which serves affordable, freshly-made North Indian cuisine, believes in good food, relaxed setting and customer service – the three key elements of a successful restaurant.

Sapphire Bistro is a vision crafted by Gary Sandhu and Gurminder Behniwal to bring forward the forgotten experience – the taste we have left thousands of miles behind us. The food is prepared keeping the same old tradition of fresh ingredients in mind that we all grew up with. After visiting many hotels in and around town, the lack of fresh food or good service encouraged Sandhu and Behniwal to open their own restaurant.

One of the best features of the restaurant – food prepared using fresh ingredients. “At Sapphire Bistro, we have cut down on our freezer space; we have only two very small chest freezers. We prepare our gravies three times a week, a lot of time and labour goes in it. That’s why guests ask us why our gravy is so smooth,” shares Behniwal, suggesting customers to try their delicious Butter Chicken dish to taste its smoothness and balance in ingredients.

“We don’t compromise on quality. Try it once and you will definitely come back,” says Sandhu, pointing out that their appetizer, Stuffed Tangri, is a very popular dish among customers. Stuffed Tangi comprises of marinated chicken left overnight with cashew base and minced meat stuffing filled into the drumsticks. “No eatery in Surrey has this dish on its menu. And if you do find it in the menu, you won’t have the same authentic taste anywhere but here,” expresses Sandhu.

Another appealing feature of the restaurant is its location. Sapphire Bistro is located on the second floor, giving way to a stunning view and a quiet dining experience. “We wanted to be on the second floor because it would be something different for the customers,” explains Sandhu. “No other Indian restaurant is on the second floor in Surrey,” adds Behniwal.

For the décor, the partners went around to a lot of various restaurants to see what they can do different. They wanted to give Sapphire Bistro a very relaxed look. “When they come here, we want them to be stress-free and enjoy the ambience. The decor is not flashy, so you can sit and relax with friends” says Behniwal. There is also 3D art work on the walls and walls painted in different colours. “No other restaurant has these wall designs,” says Sandhu proudly, “We have different colours and different themes to every area.”

Despite being new in the market, Sapphire Bistro has already inculcated the value of satisfied customer service among its staff. “We have a general manager who is highly skilled and trained, and is staying on top of everything to give the staff daily training on customer service, how to be professional and how to sell. Our staff is very polite, and suggests what is good on the menu,” states Sandhu.

Sapphire Bistro also has patio dining, family room, lounge, and services such as take out, catering and a banquet hall. The banquet hall has the facilities of DJ, bar and projector, and can host almost 100 people.

“Try it once, if you like it, come back with others,” says Sandhu in conclusion. “Come, eat, experience and believe,” says Behniwal.
