Burdock & Co is bursting into spring with a bouquet of prestigious accolades and a newly launched "Disco Dumplings" series. With top honours earned in the 2018 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and Canada's 100 Best Restaurants Awards, the Main Street eatery has become the hottest ticket in town for bar-setting brunch, expertly crafted West Coast cuisine and impeccable service.
Burdock & Co took home four coveted honours at the 2018 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. This year's judges included the city's top restaurant critics and culinary pros, who spent the previous year tasting their way through hundreds of dining establishments to build their highly anticipated list of the city's best.
Burdock & Co received the gold award for Best Brunch - (the crispy fried chicken with dill pickle mayo and poached egg was a particular favourite) and thanks to an intriguing menu of eclectic dishes, the restaurant was also singled out as one of the East Side's best eateries in the competitive Neighbourhoods category.
Chef and Owner Andrea Carlson's locavore approach to cooking, and her desire to bend the culinary rules to achieve the perfect blend of fresh, inventive flavours, contributed to Burdock & Co's gold win for Best West Coast cuisine. Julie Sopuck, general manager, was also named one of the 2018's Premier Crew, an intimate group of four hosts, servers, sommeliers and bartenders selected for their intuitive ability to elevate the everyday dining experience.
The 2018 Canada's 100 Best Restaurants Awards were announced just earlier this month, and Burdock & Co is honoured to have placed among the top restaurants in Canada (#22 in British Columbia, and #66 in the country). The annual list of the country's favourite restaurants is voted on by food critics, leading chefs and restaurateurs, and food fanatics from every province.
Fresh off the heels of the recent awards, Burdock & Co has introduced "Disco Dumplings," a new weekly series that features a savoury dumpling menu, DJ Chris Allen spinning vinyl, and a flashy disco ball setting the mood. Guests can choose from an assortment of decadent dumplings, including nettle and ricotta with wild greens; and pork and burdock with charred chili sauce. The restaurant's famous fried chicken will also be on offer, along with a selection of beer and wine sold at happy hour prices. Disco Dumplings takes place every Monday at 8:00pm (walk-ins only; reservations on Mondays will only be accepted until 6:30pm).
