  • Wedding Cocktails: Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic
Drinks or more sophisticatedly known as cocktails are just as important as the food in the reception. Along with gorgeous flowers that display a color scheme, signature cocktails have become centerpieces in their own right, mimicking themes, hues and even the season.

Bright, colourful glasses of alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks can catch the eye of every guest. Of course, an open bar is nice, but as waiters walk around with specially made drinks, who doesn’t want to find out what the bride and groom have chosen to represent themselves — will it be fruity, dry, spicy, hot or cold?

Many weddings today often serve alcoholic drinks to get the party started and to liven up the festivities. If you and your partner feel that you are better off not to serve alcoholic drinks on your big day, then so be it. Alternatively, you may opt to meld the two options.

Don’t think juices or soda are the only non-alcoholic beverages you can serve during your wedding.

Delicious coffee and other similar beverages can surely make guests forget that you are not serving alcohol in the party. Serving non-alcoholic drinks will offer many advantages. For one, it will help you avoid embarrassing moments of having intoxicated guests say or do things they should not do. Also, serving beverages with no alcohol can give you maximum savings on your wedding budget, as alcoholic drinks don’t come cheap.

Beyond the actual drink, couples can customize their drink with specialty glassware, the platter they’re served on and even the stirrers. Many companies specialize in printing a couple’s wedding date, initials and the like on the stirrers. The whole point is to be creative.

Alcoholic

Ginger Pomegranate Sparkler

Directions:

Shake in a cocktail shaker the first 3 ingredients, then strain into a chilled champagne flute. Top with the sparkling wine.

1/2 oz. Chambord liqueur
3/4 oz. Pomegranate juice
1/4 tsp. finely minced ginger
3 oz. sparkling wine

Chai White Russian

1 ounce vodka (vanilla vodka works great)
1 ounce chai tea
3 ounces cream (can use light or half & half)
ice cubes

Directions:

To make the chai tea: in a large cup, carefully pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes and remove the tea bags, squeeze out any excess tea and discard. Refrigerate the tea for at least 30 minutes to cool. In a drink glass, pour the vodka, chai and cream over ice.

Non-Alcoholic

Cosmopolitan

Sex and the City made this drink popular once again. This drink is made of cranberry juice, some orange syrup, and drops of lime juice. This is best served in a rocks glass and garnished with lime.

Wild Berry Mojito

This drink, a mix of some berries, mint, and lime, can surely be a unique drink that would amaze your guests. Do not forget to spritz with soda water to give it a fizz.
