Celebrate the spirit of National Aboriginal Day at KPU

KPU Surrey courtyard or atrium21 Jun '16 @ 12:30 PM - 3:15 PM
Everyone is invited to Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) to celebrate the spirit of Canada's 20th annual National Aboriginal Day.

Hosted at KPU Surrey on June 21, an afternoon full of activities and presentations will honour the unique heritage, diverse cultures and vibrant traditions of Aboriginal peoples across KPU’s region, and throughout Canada.

Hoop dancing, cedar weaving, a dance performance by Butterflies in Spirit and a special presentation by KPU’s Elder in Residence Lekeyten will all take place in KPU’s courtyard or Surrey Main atrium – weather dependent – starting at 12:30 p.m. A private feast honouring special guests and Aboriginal students will kick off the festivities earlier in the day.

All activities after 12:30 p.m. are free and open to the public. To learn more about KPU Aboriginal services, visit kpu.ca/aboriginal.

National Aboriginal Day was announced in 1996, and has become a Canada-wide occasion to celebrate the country’s strong and spirited cultures and traditions. More information about the day is available here.
