  • Greater Vancouver Clean Technology Expo and Championship
The City of Surrey will host the 2nd annual Greater Vancouver Clean Technology Expo and Championship on Wednesday, September 28th. The championship represents Western Canada’s largest dedicated pitch competition and celebration for clean technology companies. Over 500 people from across North America will witness 32 companies from across BC compete for the title of Cleantech Champ as well as $10,000 in cash prize courtesy of Vancity Credit Union.

Additionally, investors from Element 8, the leading U.S. cleantech angel investor network, will be joining this event to meet with and evaluate BC-based companies during the championship. Element 8 members have invested more than U.S. $1 million in BC-based clean technology companies. With the world-class innovation being developed in the province, they are seeking out new investment opportunities on their 2-day mission to Surrey and the Metro Vancouver region.

In addition to the main competition, SFU will be presenting “Cleantech in the Plaza,” an experience based display for the general public to explore how clean technology is changing our society. Participants will have the opportunity to test drive clean energy vehicles like the BMW i-8 and the all new Fuel-cell powered Hyundai Tucson SUV around the Surrey City Centre area.
