Vancouver's Ready for a Wild Night Out

191 Alexander St30 Nov '19 @ 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Vancouver's first Wild Night Out, a wild fermentation celebration is on it's heels bringing together some of the world's best selection of barrel-aged american wild sour beers, barrel-aged ciders, kombuchas, lactic fermented coffee, and pickles for a unique experience in one of Gastown's most beloved two-story heritage buildings.

Wild Night Out is happy to announce the breweries and cideries to the November 30 intimate pop-up event in Gastown, which is located directly beside the Alibi Room. The new additions of breweries and cideries include Vermont’s Hill Farmstead Brewery®, Kelowna’s Wild Ambition Brewing, Naramata’s Creek & Gully Cider, Seattle’s Mirage Brewing Co., Los Angeles’s Dry River Brewing, Pender Island’s Twin Island Cider, Australia’s Wildflower Brewing + Blending, and Olympia’s Three Magnets Brewing.

These amazing breweries and ciders join the already top-notch list of breweries that include Brussel’s Brasserie Cantillon, Goldendale’s Dwinell Country Ales, Skagit Valley’s Garden Path Fermentation, Wallonia’s Geuzuerie Tilquin, North Van’s House of Funk Brewing, Ontario’s Nickel Brook Brewing, Kitsilano’s o5 Rare Tea Bar + Kombucha, East Van’s Temporal Artisan Ales, and Port Moody’s The Bakery Brewing. This beer list is topped off with a palate refresher bar that features the most celebrated world-class lager beers from Burlington’s Chuckanut Brewery, which includes their award-winning vienna lager and american light lager. Many of these breweries and cideries are regarded as some of the best in the world and many have have beverages have never poured in either Vancouver, Western Canada or Canada before.

Wild Night Out is a Wild Fermentation Celebration and in addition to the abundance of wild beers and wild ciders, there will also be kombucha offered from Kitsilano’s o5 Rare Tea Bar, pickles and pickled foods from Vancouver’s Biota Fermentation and Vancouver’s Kaylin and Hobbs Pickles along with Vancouver’s very first introduction to lactic fermented coffee from Arkansas’ world-famous Onyx Coffee Lab. All ciders, beers and kombuchas are included with your ticket for the session that you attend, with most beers and ciders guaranteed for most sessions.

    What are wild ales?

Wild Night Out takes it's name as a connotation of the beers that are being served at this event which are called Wild Ales. The ales, often described as the wine of the beer world, share common features in that they are traditionally-fermented beers, are often aged in wooden vats (called "fouders") or wooden barrels, and typically use some sort of fruit. Wild Ales are generally light and take their name "wild" by the use of yeast cultures that are uncontrollable to today's commercial breweries. The wild beers featured at this event are mostly aged between 16 and 24 months, which gives the yeast cultures the right amount of the time to develop the beer to produce something good and tasty and incomparable to other beer styles.

West Craft, the organizer behind this pop-up, this summer's Fruit Beer Festival and the upcoming third annual Hopwired Festival, is promising an all-inclusive drink commitment with tickets. "We love our regional artisan breweries and we've gotten them together with like-minded hyper-local breweries from across the United States and Australia for an event that will surely steal the thunder as one of the best specialty craft beer events of the year, at the end of the year. We're going out on our most successful and delicious year since we started our collaboration festivals with one of our favourite lineups to date. This is a different beast of a festival for any craft beer consumer," says Mike Willis, of West Craft.
