Tomboy Survival Guide

Centre Stage at City Hall10 Mar '17 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Tomboy Survival Guide
Part anthem, part campfire story, Tomboy Survival Guide is a collaboration of writer and truth-teller Ivan Coyote and an all-tomboy band—Alison Gorman (trumpet), Pebbles Willekes (bass guitar), and Sally Zori (drums).

Blending story with music—and defying gender boxes—these fast friends and fellow creators navigate the narrow halls of public washrooms, skirt the threat of being picked to be a flower girl at their aunt’s wedding, triumph over tying a double Windsor knot, and discover the power and beauty in realizing they were handsome all along.

Tomboy Survival Guide references Coyote’s latest book of the same name. Coyote is the award-winning author of eleven books, the creator of four short films, has released three albums that combine storytelling with music and is an audience favourite at storytelling, writers, film, poetry, and folk music festivals from Anchorage to Amsterdam.
