The Cultch presents Backbone

Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, 600 Hamilton Street30 Oct '18 to 04 Nov '18 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • The Cultch presents Backbone
The Cultch is thrilled to present Backbone from Gravity & Other Myths (Australia), running at Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, Oct 30 – Nov 4, 2018.

“A Simple Space was much more of a ‘we’ve arrived’ – look at what we can do and look at how far we can push ourselves and measure ourselves against each other…Backbone will take that to the next level: How we are in the world, and how we relate to others”— Creative Associate, Triton Tunis-Mitchell *

Vancouver audiences will be thrilled to know that Gravity & Other Myths are coming back to BC with a brand new show. Their previous show, A Simple Space, achieved huge international success—including a sold-out run at The Cultch’s York Theatre—and has been performed more than 530 times at 76 festivals and theatres across 24 countries.

In Backbone, ten world-class acrobats take the stage in ever more astonishing stunts. Literally thrown back and forth—and in every direction—they toss  themselves headfirst into unthinkable configurations; their bodies unimaginable building blocks as they challenge the various perceptions of what strength is, where it comes from and how it is measured. This frenetic celebration of human interconnectedness will test the limits of strength: physical, emotional, individual, and collective.
