Shadbolt Jazz Walk

Shadbolt Centre for the Arts01 Dec '19 @ 11:30 AM - 10:15 PM
  • Shadbolt Jazz Walk

The Shadbolt Centre, Cory Weeds and The Cellar Music Group join forces to present an extraordinary day of jazz immersion featuring some of the finest musicians and singers from near and far. 11 different groups are slated to perform, including musicians from South Carolina, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Kansas City and of course many of Vancouver’s own.

On tap are international headliners such as organist Chris Hazelton, drummer Roy McCurdy and tenor saxophonists Grant Stewart and Stephen Riley as well as Maya Rae, The Dave Robbins Sextet, The Brad Turner Quintet, Dawn Pemberton Quartet, Grant Stewart Trio, Cory Weeds Quintet, Steve Kaldestad Quintet, Alyssa Allgood, Lucy Yeghiazaryan, Stephen Riley/Ernest Turner and The Jill Townsend Jazz Orchestra featuring organist Chris Hazelton doing selections from Jimmy Smith’s Christmas Cookin’.

Buy one ticket for the day and wander from room to room to hear some of everything, or hang out in one place and enjoy a whole set! In addition to performances there will be roundtable discussions by the likes of archival record producer extraordinaire, Zev Feldman, radio DJ Jim Wilke, a Jazz 101 session with Alan Matheson and a preview of an upcoming book about jazz musicians in Vancouver by Chris Wong.

All on one day, all under one roof – come for a concert or stay all day!
