Hong Kong Exile's ROOM 2048

Firehall Arts Centre11 Apr '17 to 15 Apr '17 @ 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Hong Kong Exile's ROOM 2048
Firehall Arts Centre Residency Presents The World Premiere of Hong Kong Exile (Vancouver)’s ROOM 2048. This multimedia dance theatre piece explores the socio-political realities of the Cantonese diaspora, sourcing themes of loss, nostalgia and desire that reoccur within seminal works of acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai. Room 2048 is the latest project from the Vancouver-based interdisciplinary supergroup Hong Kong Exile, known for their loud and striking digital aesthetic, tongue-in-cheek humour, and engagement with cultural politics.
Room 2048 — a dream machine. In digital light and smoke, we pursue a history that is not ours. A living past, a dying future, and a stillborn present. We will lie. We will cheat. We will spend thousands of years here.
