Annual Mother's Day Simran Event hosted by Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen

GURDWARA SAHIB SUKH SAGAR10 May '19 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Mother's Day is a special time o the year celebrated by people who extend messages of love and affection to their beloved mothers. During this time, we honor and give special recognition to all the mothers; for their selfless love in raising and caring for children and families. This is a wonderful way for all communities to come together and show gratitude on this Annual Mother’s Day Event hosted by Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen (GNFK).

“Sikhs believe in Guru Nanak’s philosophy to love all and feed all.” Navneet Kaur Bains, GNFK. “It’s important that we bring all communities ( nationalities) together to celebrate motherhood."

"We invite people to bring their mothers and entire families to this event. Mothers, attending this event, will be honored with a gift by GNFK", Tej Kaur.

People of ALL faiths are invited to attend this evening of soulful simran and kirtan (meditation) Annual GNFK Mother's Day Event. Langar (free vegetarian meal) will be served.

Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen operates monthly, weekly and special outreach programs during the year, serving 3,500 meals every month, along with donations of clothing and other items to residents in need who live in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia.

The practice of langar (serving free vegetarian food in the communal kitchen) is selfless service of humanity. This is one of the philosophies taught by our first Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, hundreds of years ago. For the Sikh community, this project is not missionary in nature, instead it is an opportunity for us to extend the true Sikh spirit of helping those in need regardless of caste, colour, creed, and economic status.
