The Consulate General of India, Vancouver, in cooperation with over 20 Indo-Canadian Associations and Cultural Societies in B.C, is proud to host Namaste Canada 2016, a free to attend day-long cultural event on Sunday, September 4, 2016, to be held at the Surrey Arts Centre. The event will project an “An enthralling journey of India giving the audience glimpses of rural India, technologically-advanced India, cinematic India, and musical India.”
The objective of the event is to bring together the Indian diaspora around a common platform annually to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage and the flourishing ties between India and Canada. The program has been put together by enthusiastic performers and highly-accomplished local artistes who will be performing on a voluntary basis to showcase India’s rich culture to all communities.
On display will be a colourful visual tour representing customs and traditions of the different states of India, with events encompassing classical and folklore performances in customary attire and use of traditional musical instruments.
Namaste Canada will also feature interesting presentations by speakers and have some of the latest documentaries on various subjects spread over three different halls in Surrey Art Center. This first-ever event hosted by the Indian Consulate provides a unique opportunity for visitors to witness the rich Indian heritage as represented by multiple Indian communities on a single platform.
