The Mission Folk Music Festival announced the exciting lineup of music artists slated to perform at the 32nd Annual festival, July 26-28 in beautiful Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission, BC.
The 2019 festival features an exceptional and diverse roster of artists from across the continent, with music from around the world. Over 20 acts are slated to perform at both daytime stages and on the evening main stage in the Park overlooking the Fraser River, just east of Mission.
The MFMF’s Artistic Director, Michelle Demers Shaevitz has put together a weekend that includes both familiar names and exciting new discoveries - covering a lot of musical ground. There’s everything from Celtic, country and folk (traditional to contemporary) to klezmer and blues, Cuban son and Senegalese asiko; from Americana roots to Latin grooves to Balkan, choral and a cappella voices, and from Quebecois step to Thracian dance tunes - and more! Community Voices join the festivities, including a participatory Festival Choir.
The festival kicks off Friday night July 26 with a pay-what-you-can main stage concert featuring a selection of festival artists. Saturday and Sunday (July 27 and 28) sees music on three daytime stages and on the evening main stage.
In addition to the great music, there are both Food and Artisan Market vendors, a Wee Folks area on site, and a licensed bistro. Attendees can also choose to buy a ticket to camp on site. Over 300 enthusiastic volunteers ensure the festival runs smoothly.
