One of Vancouver's highest rated and most scenically situated restaurants will be launching their very own Caviar Festival for the second year in a row. On November 2, Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio will unveil a selection of feature dishes for the event, showcasing global varieties of the rare delicacy. And that's just a teaser: now and through fall and winter, the restaurant is also offering a value-driven prix fixe menu that infuses seasonal West Coast ingredients with exotic flair.
Executive Chef Ricardo Valverde has crafted an elegant ensemble of caviar menu items inspired by Ancora's Peruvian-Japanese concept, available throughout Caviar Festival (November 2 - 23). Guests can indulge in a selection of five dishes, such as smoked trout caviar, complemented by bold squid ink linguini and uni with house bacon and beurre blanc ($20); and caviar aficionados will particularly enjoy Ancora's pure caviar tasting ($180), starring Siberian, Ossetra and Northern Divine varieties served with potato blinis, crème fraiche and chives.
"The Caviar Festival is the perfect time for people who might not be familiar, or comfortable, with caviar to give the delicacy a try," said Andrea Vescovi, general manager & wine director. "It's a common misconception that caviar is always expensive, or should be reserved solely for special occasions. Chef's menu presents a true snapshot of the ways caviar can be implemented into approachable dishes while also giving diners the opportunity to taste different varieties."
Chef Valverde and his team have clearly been hard at work: in addition to a luxe lineup of caviar dishes, Ancora has introduced a fall/winter, three-course prix fixe menu you'll want to cozy up to all winter long, offered every day from 5-6pm.
