Sing Song Sayings is a beautifully-crafted concept album for children that sets commonly-used expressions to music in a delightful new way. This unique collection of tunes will captivate young listeners and parents alike. Through creative storytelling and catchy melodies, each song sheds a playful light on the lessons hidden within every day sayings. Intelligent, witty (and bilingual), Mike Bryden’s debut album has found the perfect balance between entertainment and discovery.
To celebrate the album release, Mike will be performing on Sunday, June 23 at the Havana Theatre with 2 shows, at 11am and 2pm (working around nap times). The event is open to the public, though seating is limited - so best to purchase early. But don’t expect your typical children’s concert, as Mike’s shows are an entertaining blend of songs, stories, and live drawings that he brings to life through projections and an oversized sketchbook. Mike’s multi-disciplinary performances literally draw everyone in and keeps them humming long after the show is wrapped.
About Sing Song Sayings
Sayings have survived over time because they tickle our imagination and continue to provide insightful and relevant lessons. Phrases like “don’t count your chickens until they’re hatched” or “like a fish out of water” are common to us all and are often casually slipped into our daily conversations.
In today’s fast-paced and techno-centric world, language subtleties and the use of wordplay is diminishing constantly. For that reason, there is a good chance this album may be the first introduction to traditional expressions for young listeners. Sing Song Sayings will get feet tapping while breathing new life into some age-old sayings that carry meaningful ideas. While the album is best enjoyed by ages 3 to 7, kids of all ages will be entertained by Mike’s fun and witty tunes.
