Fans of ’80s music will dig this self-referential, and occasionally meta-theatrical jukebox musical filled with classic rock and glam metal hits from bands such as Poison, Journey, Twisted Sister, and Bon Jovi. It’s 1987 and aspiring rocker Drew Boley (Kale Penny), works at a Hollywood bar called the Bourbon Room, where he meets and falls madly in love with Sherrie (Marlie Collins), a fresh-faced Midwesterner who has recently moved to Los Angeles to chase her movie star dreams. Will their stars rise? Will their love last? Find all your favourite hits here in this musical story that will keep you holding on. Just don’t stop believing!
“Rock of Ages is an unapologetically juvenile and recklessly sexy tribute to the metal/glam hair-rock culture of LA in the late ’80s,” says director Peter Jorgensen. “It has kick-ass songs that will titillate, thrill, and fill anyone who remembers the era with overwhelming nostalgia. We have an amazingly dynamic cast and totally rad five-piece rock band that is going to blow the roof off the theatre. Throw in a perfectly predictable love story, a couple of German real estate developers, and some jazz hands and you have an epic, hilarious, face-melting evening that ain’t nothing but a good time!”
