Today, nearly half of Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. But with your help, the Canadian Cancer Society is funding groundbreaking research and is able to provide a national support system for people with cancer, their caregivers and their families.
A grade 12 SouthRidge School student Suvaan Bhatha is taking the lead in organizing the 7th annual Relay for Life Event. The Canadian Cancer soceity itself strives to celebrate cancer survivors, remember and honour those we have lost to this horrendous disease, and one day, find a cure for cancer. Year after year, the school has set an annual target of raising $100,000.
Last year, thanks to a generous donation from a member of the school community, the school raised over $150,000 which speaks to the philanthropy and the overall impact the event truly has.
This is Bhatha's final year leading the Relay at Southridge, he would appreciate any donation you can make as you are helping millions of people who are battling the disease today.
So far the fundraiser has reached 50K but a lot of effort is still needed to reach the goal.
It will be a fun filled day with activities and prizes so mark it on your calendar and give generously.
