‘Meri Awaaz’ event breaks silence on domestic violence

Meri Awaaz (My Voice) is a one day engagement workshop/symposium on International Women’s Day at Simon Fraser University Surrey. The focus of the event is to work collaboratively with women’s organizations/groups to facilitate awareness and focused dialogue and empowerment on the topic of abuse and South Asian women.
There is no cost to attend, but donations are being collected for Surrey Women’s Centre. Anyone interested in the topic of domestic violence is encouraged to attend
As one of the leading meal provider to those in need, Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen (GNFK) is building on last year’s successful Toy Drive for Those in Need. In 2013, over 1,770 new toys were delivered to schools with low income families as well as aboriginal groups in the Lower Mainland.
