  • Local networking group hosts fundraiser for Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon
Westcoast Business Networking Group (WBNG) is proud to announce that its 2nd annual Heart to Heart Social will be taking place on October 20, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. at The Arbutus Club. This year’s Social will be benefitting Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon.

“It is important for WBNG and its members to give back to the community,” says Ana Domingos, president and founder of WBNG. “Most of us are parents, and we thought it would be nice to help children in need this year, so we selected Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon as the charity for our 2nd annual Heart to Heart Social.”

“Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon is such a wonderful organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, and we are excited that net proceeds from WBNG’s Social will be benefitting such a worthy cause,” says Kelly Arthur, director of communications and founder of WBNG.

The Heart to Heart Social will feature a JAC by Jacqueline Conoir fashion show; a gourmet spread of delicious hors d’oeuvres and canapés; fabulous door prizes; and live entertainment by KB Collective, a Vancouver jazz trio, followed by the one and only DJ Flipout of 94.5 Virgin Radio Vancouver.

An important element of the Social is the inspirational keynote speaker, and this year is no exception as our keynote is Sara Labelle, a 19-year-old university student. Since the age of 6 months, Sara has been battling aggressive fibromatosis and has had to deal with various treatments, including the amputation of her right leg, in the hopes of overcoming this challenge.

“We are delighted to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be the lovely Sara Labelle,” says Reema Alevras, treasurer and founder of WBNG. “Since a young age, Sara has had to face rare tumours known as aggressive fibromatosis and she had to undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Sara’s story of courage, strength and tenacity are an inspiration and we are honoured that she will be the keynote speaker at our fundraiser.”

Tickets for the fundraiser are $65, and to make a donation to Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon or purchase tickets online, visit http://wbnghearttoheartsocial.bpt.me/

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a rapidly progressive, neuromuscular disease. It attacks the motor neurons that transmit electrical impulses from the brain to the voluntary muscles in the body. When they fail to receive messages, the muscles lose strength, atrophy and die.
