The First Annnual Vaisakhi Gala is taking place April 20th. The event will feature international artist, Raghav along with appearances by current and former NHL players & stars. Also in attendance will be some of our the best Olympic athletes.

A group of Canadian individuals, representing a cross-section of people with a passion for hockey and empowering a group of unexpected young female hockey players in India - including Hayley Wickenheiser and retired NHLer Andrew Ference, corporate representatives and NGOs (non-governmental agencies) – Went to India to officially activate the India2YYC project through the delivery of equipment and both on and off-ice skills clinics.

The visit was to prepare the women of Ladakh for their trip to Canada for The Canadian Tire Wickenheiser World Female Hockey Festival in November 2018 and furthered the vision of the participants to activate conversation and empowerment through sport.

The vision is to “promote females through sport” and by bringing the women of Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) to take part in the Annual WickFest Tournament, Hayley and her team are promoting females across the globe.

The goal of the Gala is raise approximately $150,000 which will then be used towards bringing the Indian Female Hockey Team to WickFest Calgary in November 2018 and towards constructing multiple rinks in Indian villages and lastly to promote female sports in the Lower Mainland through financial assistance for local female athletes through the 1st Annual Surrey WickFest tournament.

In staying true to the vision and in making this event a success, assistance will be provided to numerous females in sports, in a variety of ways and ultimately across the globe.
