Giving Hearts Gala in Cloverdale

Mirage Banquet Hall09 Feb '19 @ 6:00 PM - 11:45 PM

Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce a new fundraising event, Giving Hearts Gala, to provide a fundraising boost for Emergency Response, the campaign to build a new Emergency Department and MRI Suite at Langley Memorial Hospital.

The event, created by Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation Board Members Balraj Mann and Manjit Gill, takes place February 9 at the Mirage Banquet Hall in Cloverdale and will attract many from the South Asian community but is open to the public.

“During a family member’s medical emergency, I witnessed first-hand the extraordinary high-level of care and compassion provided at Langley Memorial Hospital,” says Mann. “Despite the amazing care we received, it was obvious that hospital’s facilities are outdated and outgrown.

“When I learned about the Emergency Response campaign, I knew I had to do something with my community to contribute. Manjit and I decided a fun and interactive event would be a good way for our community to take part in the campaign while also celebrating a special year for our faith community. 2019 marks the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji - the first Sikh Guru and the founder of the faith - and so with that inspiration, the Giving Hearts gala was born.”

The Giving Hearts program will be emceed by local Pulse FM personalities Leah Holiove and Jaspreet Gill, and guests can look forward to a lively Bollywood-style dance performance by acclaimed dance team Shiamak Vancouver, a delicious South Asian inspired dinner, a chance at many raffle prizes, and a beautiful ballroom to dance the night away in.

Through Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation’s $15-million Emergency Response fundraising campaign, a new Emergency Department will be built three times the current department’s size and equipped with the latest technically-advanced medical equipment to handle Langley’s growing and changing demographics. The MRI Suite will perform 7,500 exams within its first 12 months of operation and improve access to urgent medical care for residents of Langley and neighbouring communities.

“Medical emergencies can be stressful and scary, but having knowledgeable, caring staff with the best right tools and resources makes all the difference,” says Gill. “It’s my wish for the South Asian community to come together as we celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birthday, have some fun and raise muchneeded funds to help build a new Emergency Room for Langley. I know that together we can make a difference.”

Tickets to the Giving Hearts Gala are available for $250 each, or $2,000 for a table of ten. To purchase tickets or tables, visit lmhfoundation.com/givinghearts.
