The longest day of the summer will also shine its light on diabetes awareness at a special fundraising gala, aptly named Midsummer’s Eve on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Hosted by Riaz Meghji of City TV Vancouver’s Breakfast Television, and taking place at the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on the 15th floor at The Roof from 6 to 9 p.m., guests will be entertained with live music, a finely curated live and silent auction, an exciting travel-themed raffle and mystical activities to enjoy—all with panoramic views of the city. Guests will also hear from those living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and have an opportunity to learn more about the work of Diabetes Canada.
“We are pleased to invite the community to celebrate and support Diabetes Canada this June,” says Sheila Kern, regional director for British Columbia and Yukon with Diabetes Canada. “Diabetes is a growing epidemic in our community and it’s time to raise our voices on behalf of the 1.5 million British Columbians living with diabetes or prediabetes. Funds raised from this event will support the work of Diabetes Canada, including research, education and support programs.”
Tickets are $100 and can be purchased online at diabetes.ca/midsummer.
