Kidney disease is a very serious disease with no cure. One in ten Canadians has kidney disease and many don’t even know it because the symptoms are often silent in the early stages. Knowing the risk factors (which include an ethnic background that is South Asian, Asian, Aboriginal or African) and early detection of the disease may prevent or delay the need for dialysis or transplantation.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch has ten community chapters throughout the province with dedicated volunteers who help to raise awareness about the seriousness of kidney disease, encourage people to keep their kidneys healthy and work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of kidney patients and their families.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch invites the media and general public to the launch of its newest chapter: The South Asian Chapter.
