The Cultch is thrilled to present the Vancouver premiere of Hannah Moscovitch’s award-winning play Infinity, from Volcano Theatre (Toronto), January 7-19, at the Historic Theatre.
The cynical, skeptical daughter of a theoretical physicist and a composer, Sarah Jean’s clinical approach to love meets with little success. In this absorbing drama infused with science and classical music, three exceptional minds collide. Sarah Jean’s hugely talented yet severely dysfunctional family will learn that love and time itself are connected in unimaginable ways. Infinity fuses a love story with theoretical physics, classical music, and the idea that what time offers us is more than we realize.
Written by renowned Canadian Playwright Hannah Moscovitch, with original music by internationally acclaimed composer, Njo Kong Kie, Infinity was commissioned and developed by Volcano Theatre, directed by award-winning director, Ross Manson, and crafted with close input from world-renowned physicist Lee Smolin. Its world premiere in 2015—a co-production between Volcano and Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre—won the 2015 Toronto Theatre Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play. The Vancouver premiere will feature two of Canada’s most esteemed actors, Jonathon Young and Amy Rutherford, as well as up-and-comer Emily Jane King.
