Love, fate & Family: Ballet BC presents Romeo+Juliet

Queen Elizabeth Theatre04 Mar '20 to 07 Mar '20 @ 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM

The historic, deeply human story of “star-crossed lovers” within Ballet BC’s Program 2: Romeo + Juliet is gracing the stage of Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre March 4-7, 2020.

Artfully crafted by choreographer Medhi Walerski, Ballet BC’s incoming Artistic Director, guests will be delighted by a fresh and bold retelling of this classic story. Set to Sergei Prokofiev’s stunning score, the contemporary version of Romeo + Juliet is brought to life through dazzling scenes and complex imagery, including an evocative set and lighting design by Dutch designer Theun Mosk.

Medhi Walerski was recently announced as Ballet BC’s new Artistic Director beginning in July 2020, succeeding Emily Molnar, who will become Artistic Director of Nederlands Dans Theater in the same month. It is with great anticipation that the public can now experience Walerski’s vision through this performance, which showed to record crowds when it premiered with Ballet BC in 2018.

Walerski shares, “Creating Romeo + Juliet has been one of the greatest highlights in my choreographic development. It is with great pride that I will see it return to the stage, especially now that I have the privilege to build a deeper relationship with the company. I cannot wait for the story of star-crossed lovers to come to life again and tour internationally.”

Performances of this tragic tale of forbidden love are as follows:

    March 4, 2020 - 8:00pm
    March 5, 2020 - 8:00pm
    March 6, 2020 - 8:00pm
    March 7, 2020 - 8:00pm

Tickets range from $45 to $119 (excluding service charges) and can be purchased at www.balletbc.com.
