Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort-starrer romantic comedy-drama film “The Fault in Our Stars” clinched the top honours at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, including Movie of the Year and Best Female Performance.

The award show took place at the Nokia Theatre Los Angeles Live here on Sunday, reports variety.com.

She was nominated along with Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1”), Emma Stone (“Birdman”), Reese Witherspoon (“Wild”) and Scarlett Johansson (“Lucy”)

Woodley took the opportunity to thank the author of the book “The Fault in Our Stars”, on which the film is based.

“I feel like this award belongs to John Green. He gave this world a beautiful masterpiece, a gift in ‘The Fault in Our Stars.’ It changed my life when I read it and being a part of this film dramatically influenced who I am today,” she said.

The 2014 film was honoured as the Movie of the Year. Others included in the category were “American Sniper”, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Gone Girl”, “Boyhood”, “Whiplash” and “Selma”.

Zac Efron and Dave Franco-starrer “Neighbors” was next up in the list with three wins, including Best Duo, Best Shirtless Performance (for Efron) and Best WTF Moment.

The third film in the “The Hunger Games” franchise, “Mockingjay - Part 1” clinched the award for Best Musical Moment (for Jennifer Lawrence) and Best On-Screen Transformation for Elizabeth Banks.

Actor Channing Tatum was given the award for Best Comedic Performance for his role in “22 Jump Street”; the Best Scared-As-S**t Performance award was taken by singer-actress Jennifer Lopez (“The Boy Next Door”); and the award for Best Fight was given to “The Maze Runner” for the Dylan O’Brien versus Will Poulter action sequence.
