"Gunman" director Pierre Morel says the film's star, Sean Penn "doesn't compromise" when it comes to acting.
Morel, who also directed "Taken", marvelled at the experience of working with Oscar-winning star along with Javier Bardem and Idris Elba, months after the shooting of "Gunman" finished, reports variety.com.
At Thursday night's premiere of "Gunman", held at Live's Regal Cinemas here, Morel discussed the experience of directing the three actors.
"You don't have to do much. The magic just happens. You feel useless sometimes," Morel said.
Speaking of Penn, he added: "He just gives you the best he can, whether it's action or drama. He doesn't compromise."
In the film, Penn plays an ex-assassin on the run, with Elba appearing as an Interpol agent and Bardem playing Penn's girlfriend-stealing ex-colleague. The murky allegiances among the three provide much of the film's tension.
"Gunman" bows in theatres on March 20.
