Actor Ryan Gosling and actress-wife Eva Mendes were enjoying a family trip on the occassion of latter's 42nd birthday when they came across a stranded dog and Gosling jumped to its rescue.
The couple had collected a takeaway meal with their 16-month-old daughter Esmeralda, when their family car almost collided with the dog which had wandered into the middle of a busy highway.
Rather than swerve to avoid hitting the canine and continuing on their journey, the 35-year-old actor realised the stranded animal desperately needed their help and decided to pull over.
The "Crazy, Stupid, Love" star jumped out of his car and rescued the terrified pooch, who had narrowly missed being killed by other drivers, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The actor planned to take Mendes and Esmeralda away to Palm Springs for four nights and the family stayed in the opulent former estate of the late "I did it my way" singer Frank Sinatra.
A source told ET Canada that Gosling wanted to make his girlfriend of five years' birthday extra special by booking the decadent pad which features four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a recording studio, pool house and Sinatra memorabilia throughout and costs $2,600 a night to rent.
