Rihanna 'proud' to host her charity ball

Darpan News Desk IANS, 09 Nov, 2014 12:04 PM
Singer Rihanna is “proud” to be hosting her inaugural Diamond Ball to raise funds for her Clara Lionel Foundation that promotes education and arts globally.

Rihanna has announced the inaugural Diamond Ball will take place at The Vineyard in Beverly Hills, California Dec 11, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“There is truly nothing I'm more proud of, and we've just gotten started. I'm excited to continue my work and thrilled to be able to host the Diamond Ball - a night that promises to be elegant and inspirational,” the 25-year-old star said in a statement.

Rihanna founded her organisation, which she said is “one of the greatest benefits of my job,” in 2012 and named it after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

The singer will perform with a live orchestra for approximately 600 guests at the event and a number of other celebrity guests will be announced at a later date.

Rihanna established the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados, after donating $1.75 million to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital following the death of her grandmother from cancer in 2012.

She is also hoping to help raise $2.4 million to improve the centre and purchase additional radiotherapy equipment.
