One Direction Are Totally Exhausted: Simon Cowell

Darpan News Desk IANS, 17 Nov, 2015 10:42 AM
  • One Direction Are Totally Exhausted: Simon Cowell
Music mogul Simon Cowell, who manages British band One Direction, totally understands why they want to take a lengthy hiatus.

Cowell said in an interview that the members of the band had worked non-stop for five years straight and they're getting the break they deserved.

"The way I look at it with One Direction is that we've had five fantastic years and they're totally exhausted," Cowell told dailymail.co.uk's Event magazine.

He added that he didn't know if the group would reform after the break.

However, he's sure they'd be "OK" even if they wouldn't work together as a band again.

"They need time out, but they will all be fine and if they want to come back, they will. If not, they're all going to be OK," he said.

Cowell went on to reveal to how close he was to the One Direction members. He said their relationship is more than just business.

"They actually came out of their contract with me two years ago. They got offers for way more money from other record companies," he shared.

"Everyone jumped in. They could have really turned the screw on me if they'd wanted to but they didn't waver for a second, they stuck with me because we have a relationship."

Cowell also discussed about Zayn Malik's departure from the band. He said he knew the "unhappy" young star was about to leave his bandmates even before he made the announcement.

"I knew Zayn was going before it happened. He was unhappy," he explained.

"My concern was actually for the boys. Zayn wasn't in a great place but it was his decision to leave, he wasn't kicked out. He wanted to distance himself. My responsibility was to the boys because they had no warning," he added.
