Singer Nicki Minaj’s former boyfriend Safaree Samuels says he split from her because he felt like he was being treated like an “employee instead of her man”.
Minaj and Samuels had been together for twelve years before he decided to call time on the relationship.
Speaking on “The Breakfast Club” radio show, Samuels admitted that he was the one who walked away, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“I walked away. I'm not going to say I broke up, but I'm the one who walked away. I packed up my stuff and I left,” he said.
“I just got to the point where the respect wasn't there. Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every night. I'm who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man,” he added.
After splitting from him, Minaj has been linked with hip-hop artist Meek Mill.
Samuels further said that he helped Minaj with her songwriting.
“Don't say, 'Oh, I don't have no talent' because every time it came to writing raps and doing music, it was me, her and a beat. She doesn't do it by herself. It was me and her,” he said.
