Madame Tussauds Separates Pitt, Jolie's Wax Figures

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Sep, 2016 01:06 PM
  • Madame Tussauds Separates Pitt, Jolie's Wax Figures
World famous waxwork museum Madame Tussauds has placed actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's figures separately after news of their split emerged.

"Following the news that has shocked celebrity watchers worldwide, we can confirm we have separated Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's figures," read a post from the official Twitter handle of Madame Tussauds on Wednesday.

In an accompanying image with the post, "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson's figure seems to have been placed in between Pitt and Jolie's artworks.

The waxwork museum later confirmed Jolie had been moved to keep Nicole Kidman company and Pitt's figure was next to his "Seven" co-star Morgan Freeman.

The now estranged couple's waxworks were unveiled in 2013 to mark Pitt's 50th birthday.

"We reacted quickly to yesterday's (Tuesday) news of the separation of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and their plans to divorce by mirroring the separation in the attraction.

"The couple's wax figures, which were launched in 2013, have been split up and are now featured at a respectful distance from each other," dailymail.co.uk quoted a spokesperson as saying.

The Hollywood couple, known collectively as Brangelina, married in 2014. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Jolie had filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

BRANGELINA DIVORCE BECOMES FODDER FOR LATE NIGHT SHOWS' HOSTS

Jimmy Kimmel and James Cordon, hosts of late night chat shows, took potshots at the divorce news of Hollywood's power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

On Tuesday, after Jolie announced the news of her split with Pitt after being together for more than a decade, it gave enough fodder for social media to crack jokes or grieve over the split.

Kimmel showed several tabloid covers during his opening monologue on his show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"There are a lot of important and life-threatening and world changing things going on lately; sometimes it seems like more than ever. But none of them are as foundation shaking as the news we received about Brad and Angelina today," the comedian joked, reports eonlione.com.

"As I'm sure you've heard, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, and of course, all the celebrity gossip magazines are claiming victory. You know, they broke this story. They broke this story every week for the last 11 years over and over and over again-until finally, it came true," he added.

"While it's 'sad news' for Brangelina, it's also 'great news' for Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift , who now don't have to be on those covers anymore. Apparently the reason they're getting divorced is she talked about fight club, and Pitt specifically asked her not to do that.

"Now that this has happened, you wonder what else the tabloids have been right about. Are Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez back together? Was Kim Kardashian dumped on her first anniversary? Is Barack Obama gay? I mean, he must be; they wouldn't put it on the cover if it wasn't true. Anyway, our thoughts are with Brad and Angelina, and with all of us. It's always hard when two people you don't know and have no personal connection to split up," Kimmel added.

Jimmy Fallon's Brangelina mention was brief.

"Here's what everyone is talking about -- it's kind of sad news: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are separating. It's pretty scary when even Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are like, 'Eh, I could do better," he said on his show "The Tonight Show".

Similarly, Conan O'Brien kept his Brangelina coverage to a minimum on his show, saying: "The big story today is celebrity news... Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting a divorce. They'll share custody 50-50: He'll take 50 kids, she'll take the other 50."

Corden spoke of the A-list couple's breakup, joking that it was "perhaps the most troubling news story" of the day.

"It came out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are filing for divorce and will end their relationship of 12 years. I'm taking this news especially hard because I named my daughter Brangelina. It feels like a mistake now," Corden joked on "The Late Late Show".
