Kate Winslet 'determined' to win BAFTA

IANS, 13 Feb, 2016 02:01 PM
Actress Kate Winslet is "determined" to win the Best Supporting Actress at the forthcoming BAFTA Awards, which will be aired on Sunday.

The 40-year-old is nominated for the prestigious prize for her performance as Joanna Hoffman in “Steve Jobs”, the biopic about the late Apple co-founder, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“I don't know if I'm necessarily hopeful (about winning), but I'm just more determined at this point. You know I really do just feel it's been an amazing year, it's been a great year for women in film but this particular category of Best Supporting Actress, it's been really quite up in the air...

"You know people have been floating in and out of this category, I won the Golden Globe, I was so fortunate to have won that but at the same time there's no shoe-in ... Root for me on Sunday, let's take it home for the Brits,” Winslet said.

The “Titanic” star will have stiff competition in the category from Alicia Vikander for “Ex Machina”, Jennifer Jason Leigh for “The Hateful Eight”, Julie Walters for “Brooklyn”
    and Rooney Mara for “Carol”.

She said: "I think that it's anyone's guess really. I wouldn't want to be putting a bet on who's going to win this award because who knows. I'm not going to go down the bookies that's for sure!"
