Jim Carrey's former girlfriend Cathriona Whites mother has announced that she is suing the actor over the death of her daughter, saying that he gave her three sexually transmitted diseases.
White's mother Brigid Sweetman's statement has come less than a month after White's estranged husband, Mark Burton, filed a similar lawsuit, reports telegraph.co.uk.
Carrey has denied all the allegations.
White, 30, an Irish-born make-up artist, died here in September last year. A coroner ruled she took her own life, having consumed several prescription drugs.
Her mother said in a statement on Tuesday that Carrey should be "ashamed" of his treatment of her daughter, over claims that he illegally provided White with the prescription drugs involved in her suicide.
"Jim Carrey should be ashamed of what he did to my daughter. And he should be ashamed for how he has used his Hollywood attorneys to badmouth Cat's husband Mark with the hope that nobody will hold him responsible for what he did," Sweetman said.
"As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is -- a man that will give your daughter three STDs, lie about it, call her terrible names and demean her, use his high-priced lawyers to try and shut her and her family up, and then give her illegal drugs," she added.
Sweetman is suing Carrey for wrongful death and violation of the drug dealer liability act.
In papers filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Sweetman claims Carrey knew he had tested positive for the STDs following a visit to a medical clinic in January 2013 and registering under the false name "Jose Lopez".
