Elton John pays for estranged mother's operation

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Jan, 2016 12:07 PM
  • Elton John pays for estranged mother's operation
British singing legend Elton John has splashed out 30,000 pounds for his estranged mother to undergo a hip operation, and it seems a reconciliation is in the works.

John has been estranged from his mother for seven years.

"David (Elton's spouse) believes that paying for the surgery is in itself an important gesture. David is happily telling friends that they are all back in touch. Elton has been in touch at least twice since her 90th birthday in July. There is a reconciliation in progress," a source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

However, it is likely that the 68-year-old singer maybe making an effort in vain as his mother isn't interested in being around his spouse.

"It is good of him to pay and I do appreciate it. I would love it (a reconciliation) to happen - I am his mother. But I don't see it happening, at least not while Mr. Furnish is around," she said.

The "Candle in the wind" singer married David Furnish in 2014.
