Cobie Smulders Opens Up About Battling Ovarian Cancer

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Apr, 2015 12:41 PM
Actress Cobie Smulders has opened up about battling ovarian cancer when she was just 25 years old.

"I had tumours on both ovaries, and the cancer had spread into my lymph nodes and surrounding tissues," Smulders told Women's Health in an interview.

For the next couple of years, the "How I Met Your Mother" actress underwent many surgeries to remove the cancerous tissue in her body, which then left her with one third of an ovary, reports aceshowbiz.com

Being told by doctors who treated her that she would never be able to get pregnant naturally, Smulders in fact has two children with her actor husband Taran Killam.

The 33-year-old told the magazine: "I don't think I'll ever feel like I'm cancer-free. Now that I'm five years out, I'm trying to think of it as a positive thing and what can I learn from it. And if I can create more awareness, I'll do it."

Despite her past cancer battle, Smulders has lived her life to the fullest.

She looked flawless and joyful on the cover of the magazine's latest issue that showed her posing topless in just short jeans.
