Chris Rock writing his own script for Oscars

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Jan, 2016 12:02 PM
Comedian-actor Chris Rock, who will be hosting the Oscar Awards ceremony this year, is working on a whole new script and is planning to include jokes on its 'lack of diversity' controversy.

“Rock is hard at work for the Oscar night, as he has thrown out the script I wrote and is writing a new show,” etonline.com quoted Academy Awards producer Reginald Hudlin as saying.

“He and his writing staff locked themselves in a room as things got a little provocative and exciting. He is throwing out the show that I wrote and writing a new show," Hudlin said.

Hudlin also confirmed that the 50-year-old comedian who often addresses issues of race in his movies and stand-up shows, will include some #OscarsSoWhite jokes during the show.

"And, yes, the Academy is ready for him to do that. They're excited about him doing that. They know that's what we need. They know that's what the public wants, and we deliver what the people want,” he said.

"Chris is that thorough. He's that brilliant, and I have 1000 percent confidence that he will deliver something that people will be talking about for weeks,” Hudlin added.

The 88th Annual Academy Awards will air on February 28.
