Charlize Theron helped Sean Penn raise $6 mn for Haiti

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Jan, 2015 01:21 PM
  • Charlize Theron helped Sean Penn raise $6 mn for Haiti
Actress Charlize Theron helped her beau and actor Sean Penn to raise $6 million for his annual charity gala for J/P Haitian Relief Organisation.

The four-hour gala, which took place Saturday at Montage Beverly Hills, raised a whopping $6 million to continue efforts to rebuild Haiti after it was hit by an earthquake five years ago.

Former US president Bill Clinton also contributed to the cause.

“It's essential support. At a certain point when there's a disaster or a conflict in an area, there are grant monies for organisations like ours, but they dry up pretty quickly when you move into a development phase and so this particular night is essential to keep the work that we do going,” eonline.com quoted Penn as saying.

During the event, Theron was right by his side in a black dress.

Some of the other guests included Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Chris Martin.
