B.C. Child Star Jacob Tremblay's Hollywood Success Comes As No Surprise, Say Colleagues

    VANCOUVER — The film director who first cast a nine-year-old actor from British Columbia says she's not at all surprised by Jacob Tremblay's skyrocketing success after his heart-melting acceptance speech for a Critics Choice Award became the talk of Hollywood.
     
    Alison Parker says she was blown away by Tremblay's natural talent for her 2013 film "The Magic Ferret" and considers it an honour to have been there for the start of his critically acclaimed acting career.
     
     
    Tremblay took home the award for Best Young Actor last weekend for his performance alongside Brie Larson in the movie "Room," written by Irish-Canadian playwright Emma Donoghue.
     
    An avid Star Wars fan, Tremblay delivered a memorable address to a star-studded audience in Santa Monica, Calif., thanking the entire movie team and saying he would put the trophy on the shelf next to his Millennium Falcon.
     
    "Corner Gas" star Fred Ewanuick worked alongside Tremblay in "The Magic Ferret" and says what stuck out most about the young actor was his talent, professionalism and how much he clearly enjoyed being on set.
     
     
    Ewanuick also says he isn't surprised by Tremblay's success, calling it well deserved.
