Yuvraj's Mother Shabnam Singh Afraid Of What I Might Say: Akanksha Sharma

IANS, 31 Oct, 2016 12:13 PM
Akanksha Sharma, the estranged wife of Yuvraj Singh's brother, has been eliminated from the tenth season of reality show "Bigg Boss". She says she is only looking for a divorce now and feels Shabnam Singh -- mother of the star cricketer -- is afraid of what she might tell the world about the family.

Akanksha was married to Yuvraj's younger brother Zoravar for four months. However, the couple has been estranged for over two years now.

Before Akanksha entered the "Bigg Boss" house earlier this month, she had said that her problems were not between her and Zoravar, or with Yuvraj, but with their mother Shabnam, who hit out by saying that Akanksha perhaps had an "agenda" to enter the show.

Asked about her opinion about Shabnam's statement, Akanksha told IANS: "I think she is afraid of the fact that the things that I have to say are quite true, because if things aren't true, a person doesn't really react the way she is reacting to it. You are (She is) afraid of what I might say."

Akanksha said she is "not looking for anything" from the Singh family.

"But (I am) looking for my divorce and I don't want anything from their house at all. I just want my freedom from that house. I want to go ahead in my life," she added.

The Gurgaon-based girl, post her ouster from "Bigg Boss", has been quoted by a publication as saying that she was forced into intimacy with Zoravar and that she smoked pot with him.

Shabnam has now released a statement against these allegations made by Akanksha.

"Me and my family have only knocked the doors of the courts against her false allegations and blackmailing. I deny all these new allegations as well. The matter is sub-judice and I hope every one else also respects the law of land and let the courts bring out the truth through their verdict," Shabnam said in a statement.

"For the longest time, we as a family have ignored all her unnecessary assaults, giving her the benefit of being a woman, of being immature, and above all of being family. This benefit cannot be extended forever," she added.

Yuvraj's mother -- now "determined to take this to its logical end" -- also said "the image of the family assiduously earned over a period of years, cannot be allowed to be eroded by an ill-meaning person".

Meanwhile, the "Bigg Boss" journey was "pretty awesome" for Akanksha, who has described it as a "once in a lifetime experience".

"I wasn't expecting it, but the day the eviction was taking place, I kind of felt it that it is going to happen because I really didn't get the chance to show who I am or represent who I am," she said.

After "Bigg Boss", she is looking forward to acting and finishing her book on woman empowerment.
