Will Akshay's Jolly LLB 2 Make It To 100 Cr Club?

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Feb, 2017 02:49 PM
  • Will Akshay's Jolly LLB 2 Make It To 100 Cr Club?
Akshay Kumar's courtroom drama 'Jolly LLB 2' collected around Rs 5.25 crore (nett) on Wednesday, raising the domestic tally to Rs 67.75 crore, according to a report on boxofficeindia.com

The film's producers also released their figures, which quote that the film has earned Rs 5.89 crore on Wednesday and the total domestic box-office collection stands at Rs 72.68 crore.

'Jolly LLB 2', which is now cruising towards the end of its first week, is the second instalment in the film series helmed by Subhash Kapoor. The film features a different cast, as the 2013 film had Arshad Warsi in the titular role and Boman Irani played a prominent lawyer. The latest film presents Akshay as Jagdishwar Mishra, an unscrupulous lawyer who turns over a new leaf after an unfortunate episode leaves him scarred.

'Jolly LLB 2' has been much loved by the audiences and critics alike, and Akshay's performance has found a lot of praise from his contemporaries, including Hrithik Roshan and Arshad. The film's ladies, Sayani Gupta and Huma are also being lauded for their performances.

Ironically, Jolly LLB 2 was also courted controversy and was taken to the court in real life. Advocate Ajay Kumar Waghmare had filed a petition before the bench and demanded removal of the word 'LLB' from the film and cut certain shots which portrayed lawyers in bad light. On February 6, the Bombay High Court's Aurangabad bench ruled that the film would have to cut four shots in the film. The makers accepted the cuts as per the verdict and released the film on February 10.
