Watch: 'Udta Punjab' Trailer Highlights Drug Menace In Punjab, Bollywood Stars Go Gaga

    The trailer of Abhishek Chaubey's “Udta Punjab” highlights the rampant issue of drug abuse among youth in Punjab.
     
    In the trailer launched on Saturday night, actor Shahid Kapoor is seen essaying the character of a high-on-drugs, long haired rockstar Tommy Singh, who sings with glee and abuses with impunity. 
     
    Actress Alia Bhatt is seen in a de-glam role, portraying a migrant Bihari labourer while Kareena Kapoor Khan essays the role of a doctor who is determined to fight the illegal transportation of drugs, including medicinal ones that are sold without prescription in Punjab. 
     
    Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is seen as a police official in the trailer.
     
     
    Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under their banner Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Phantom Films, the music for “Udta Punjab” has been composed by Amit Trivedi while the lyrics have been penned by Shellee and Varun Grover.
     
    “Udta Punjab” is set to release on June 17.
     
    B-TOWN LAUDS 'UDTA PUNJAB' TRAILER
     
     
    B-town celebrities showered praise for the trailer of Abhishek Chaubey's film “Udta Punjab” which highlights the rampant issue of drug abuse among youth in Punjab.
     
    While actor Anupam Kher called the trailer “raw, real and on fire”, director Madhur Bhandarkar called it “reality packed".
