Wanted To Act In 'Sarbjit': Jackky Bhagnani

Darpan News Desk IANS, 07 May, 2016 12:52 PM
Actor Jackky Bhagnani, who has turned producer with "Sarbjit", says that when he heard the script, he definitely felt like acting in the film.

"I am first an actor, and I felt that should be doing this film as an actor. But maybe there won't be place for me in every film as an actor. When Omung (Kumar) sir had brought the film to us, he had decided roughly about the actors and the look of the film.

"But I felt that even though I'm not an actor on the film, I can still be a part of this film as a producer as it was a story that had to be told. Actor or no actor, this film had to be backed. But yes, it is such a good film that as an actor I felt a lot like acting in it, but hoping that I can work with Omung sir next time," Jackky said in an interview.

"We all work eventually for money, but 'Sarbjit' is slightly above all that. This is the story of an innocent man and every Indian and every person should watch the film as it is dedicated to all those who have been stuck in the jail for various reasons for years."

Jackky's sister Deepshika Deshmukh has also been credited as a producer on the film, along with their father Vashu Bhagnani. Their banner, Pooja Entertainment is known to make commercial entertainers featuring the famous David Dhawan- Govinda combination in the 1990s and films like "Himmatwala" and "Humshakals" recently.

Jackky said: "We are entertaining since 25 years, so that we will do. But the definition of 'masaledar' film has changed, as there has to be some kind of a story as well.

"If you see our films like 'Coolie No. 1', 'Hero No.1' and 'Biwi No. 1', there is a very good story and there is comedy and drama along with it. We'll continue to make those masala films but apart from that we'll also make films like 'Sarbjit' and 'Youngistaan'."

He also added: "Five years ago, I had not thought that I'll become a producer so soon."

Jackky was last seen in the comedy "Welcome to Karachi".
