Vinod Dua Calls Twinkle Khanna An 'Embarrassed Wife' For Defending Akshay For His Sexist Remark

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Oct, 2017 01:38 PM
  • Vinod Dua Calls Twinkle Khanna An 'Embarrassed Wife' For Defending Akshay For His Sexist Remark

In a recent turn of events, Twinkle Khanna, who is otherwise quite vocal with her opinions on such matters, shared her statement on Twitter adding that humour must be considered in its 'right context'.

While Mallika clarified her stance in an open letter, her father has now reacted to her comment.

"Ms.Twinkle Khanna responds to the laughter challenge controversy. It is a prosaic excuse from an embarrassed wife. Be that as it may, the point has been driven home. This chap will be careful in the future before making depraved statements like "Mallika ji aap Bell bajao, mai aapko bajaata hoon". We don't wish to pursue the matter any further," he shared.

Twinkle had mentioned on Twitter that how the entire situation has been taken in a bad light instead of treating humour just as it is. She wrote, “Mr Vinod Dua, Ms Dua’s father, had written a post – it’s been taken down now, stating, “I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar.” Should Mr Dua’s statement also be taken literally or interpreted in context?”

She continued, “Words, especially humour has to be seen in its right context. I have always stood up for freedom within comedy including defending AIB’s infamous roast on numerous occasions in the past and that is my stance even today. So kindly stop tagging me in this debate.”

In fact, even today Twinkle did not fail to take a dig at Mallika Dua. She cracked “lame jokes” on Mallika Dua and the bell controversy. The comedienne also shared her reply quickly.

Hours after Twinkle Khanna gave her opinion on the controversy surrounding husband Akshay Kumar and his former colleague on Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Mallika Dua, the author posted a pair of ‘lame jokes’ on the subject on Twitter.

Taking to Twitter, Twinkle posted these two jokes: “What is Akshay Kumar’s favourite Gadi? Bell gadi” and “Why did Akshay Kumar go to the mosques? He wanted to hear some duas.” She also wrote, “I couldn’t resist these two and after this I am done :) #LameJokes.” Mallika also retweeted the joke with her own special message.

Guess who did not find the jokes 'lame'? Yes, Mallika Dua. She reposted Twinkle's tweet and added: "HAHAHAHAHAHA....HAHA. No" Mallika Dua wasn't the only one unimpressed by this tweet, as the Internet thinks that Twinkle Khanna is "better than this."

On Twitter user wrote: "I looked up to you till I read this tweet, This wasn't your best foot forward." On Sunday, Twinkle Khanna issued a statement regarding the controversy asking social media to keep her out of it.

In an unaired clip of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, which found its way on the social media, Akshay Kumar can be heard saying, "Mallika ji aaap bell bajao, main aapko bajata hun." Mallika's father, journalist Vinod Dua, rebuked Akshay's language and wrote on Facebook (the post is now deleted): "I am going screw this cretin Aksahy Kumar."

Defending her husband Akahsy Kumar, Twinkle said in her statement: "Should Mr Dua's statement also be taken literally or interpreted in context." She added: "Words, especially humour, have to be seen in its right context. I have always stood up for freedom within comedy including defending AIB's infamous roast on numerous occasion in the past and that is my stance even today."
