Actress Vidya Balan, who had plans to celebrate New Year with her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur abroad, had to cancel their outing and return home and get hospitalised after suffering shooting pains which could be due to a kidney stone.
 
The couple had boarded a connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to their destination but minutes later while the aircraft was taxiing to take off, Vidya suffered from shooting pain in her back.
 
The pain was so severe that the paramedics were called on board and they were taken off. She was taken to a clinic at the airport for examination.
 
Currently the actress is being treated at Khar Hinduja Hospital.
 
Tests have indicated it could be a kidney stone.
 
"Vidya is currently in expert hands at Hinduja hospital and is well on her way to recovery," said her spokesperson.

VIDYA BALAN MIGHT BE OUT OF HOSPITAL ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
 
 Vidya Balan, who is in hospital for suspected kidney-related issues, is likely to get discharged on New Year's Day on Friday.
 
"Vidya is recovering well. She is feeling better. Most probably she will get discharged by tomorrow," said a source close to the actress.
 
The National Award winner had plans to celebrate New Year with her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur abroad, but they had to cancel their outing as she suffered excruciating pain.
