Vicky Kaushal Wants To Lend 'Desi' Touch To Cannes Film Fest

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 May, 2016 01:45 PM
Actor Vicky Kaushal, whose second film "Raman Raghav 2.0" will be screened at the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival, says he is planning to wear a bandhgala for one of his outings at the prestigious movie extravaganza.

At a time when most celebrities flaunt western ensembles -- gowns and tuxedos -- at the gala, Vicky has decided to go desi. He says the step is in order to give an Indian touch to the gala.

Vicky will be leaving for the French Riviera late Friday.

Asked about what he plans to wear at the extravaganza, which makes headlines for its cinema as well as fashion quotient, and Vicky said: "Okay, I never expected that someone will ask such a type of question from me. But I am wearing suits, tux, bandhgala -- what can boys do apart from wearing suits?

"Yes, I want to (bring an Indian element to the gala as far as fashion goes) this time.”

Vicky, who spoke to IANS over phone from Mumbai, is heading to Cannes for the screening of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s “Raman Raghav 2.0”. The movie is based on notorious serial killer Raman Raghav, who went on a murder spree in Mumbai in the 1960s. While actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui features in the title role, Vicky essays the role of a police officer.

The Cannes Film Festival commenced on Thursday and will go on till May 22. "Raman Raghav 2.0" will be screened at the gala on May 16 and 17.

Post “Masaan”, this is Vicky's second film to head to the Cannes gala.

The actor says he wanted to wear an ethnic outfit last time as well, but couldn’t.

“I have always been wanting to (wear Indian outfit)... We have three screenings this time, so I hope that I will be able to go Indian in one of the outings.”

The film's screening on May 16 is also special for him as it coincides with his birthday.

“It is the best gift that I could have asked for," said Vicky, who will turn 27.
